The reason for the season.  The concept of Pride Month began with the Stonewall riots in 1969.  The Stonewall riots were series of gay liberation riots that began after a police raid at the Stonewall Inn, a New York City gay bar. The next year the first marches popped up in cities across the US to commemorate the Stonewall riots and further push for liberation.
